The Penannular (meaning 'almost a ring') is the most ancient style of plaid brooch or cloak pin; examples have been found to date back to the fourth century. The attractive design of this classic plaid brooch lends it a stylish, understated appearance, but of course it's heavy and solid enough to bear the weight of a fly plaid. It is superbly made here in Scotland, and completed with a high-shine finish and attractive presentation box.
The ancient Celtic design, featuring knotwork panels, and shining silver colour will look wonderful against any tartan and really complete a formal Highland Dress outfit.
